« HAPAX » LAUNCH
Lion D’or, Septembre 21, 2017 : Hapax is the result two worlds colliding, a cathartic meeting between the klezmer music of Ashkenazi Jews and the Québécois and Canadian heritage that surrounds us, both of these genres welded together by the influence and skill of each individual musician. Here, the arrangements of traditional music mesh with unlikely sources of inspiration ranging from a “Balkanized Brahms” to a ska-dancing Félix Leclerc. The beautiful voices of Jorane and Karen Young also largely contribute to give this album its unique colour by drawing creativity from various sources, all the while remaining resolutely anchored in our native province.
